The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for Cyclone Michuang which is set to affect parts of Telangana from December 4 to 5. The forecast indicates the likelihood of thunderstorms and rainfall across several districts in the state during this period.
The IMD emphasised the possibility of light to moderate rain or thundershowers occurring at isolated places in the state during the specified dates.
Furthermore, eastern and southern districts in the state are poised to experience thunderstorms, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on December 4. "Hyderabad also could receive moderate showers, along with a few areas surrounding the city," said Dr K. Nagaratna, head scientist,
Indian Meteorological Department of Hyderabad.
While Telangana prepares for potential disruptions, coastal districts along north Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh are gearing up for the impending impact of Cyclone Michuang early next week. The cyclone is projected to make landfall on the eastern coast during the early hours of Monday.
The cyclone was named ‘Michaung’ after the suggestion by Myanmar. It means Tstrength, resilience, and robustness.
In response to the approaching cyclone, the IMD has issued an 'orange' alert over Tamil Nadu, as well as coastal and interior Andhra Pradesh for both Sunday and Monday.
