Rains continue to lash Hyderabad

The overnight rains that have been lashing the city since Wednesday are continuing on Thursday morning as well.According to officials, till 8 am on Thursday, Pashamylaram received 3.1 cm of rainfall, followed by Malkajgiri which recorded 2.3 cm, Serilingampally with 2.6 cm, Uppal with 2.3 cm and Balanagar with 2.3 cm.

A few schools and colleges have declared a holiday to avoid inconvenience to students. Many office-goers are hiring cabs to reach their workplaces



and are avoiding their private transportation fearing traffic jams. With the rains continuing, instructions have been issued to GHMC officials to stay alert and clear water logging on the main thoroughfares.

GHMC monsoon teams are clearing water stagnation at Mehdipatnam, Malakpet and at IS Sadan and few other areas. A tree got uprooted near Dilsukhnagar and is being cleared to ensure smooth flow of traffic, officials said.
