T Raja Singh, BJP MLA from Goshamahal constituency said on Sunday that he has sent his resignation letter to BJP state president, Dr K Laxman, with the objective of pursuing “cow protection” and that his movement to protect cows should not be linked to BJP party or prime minister Narendra Modi. “I want to work full-time for cow protection.
My involvement in cow protection campaign is always linked to BJP by opponents. So, I have decided to quit the party. I have sent my resignation letter to Laxman-ji,” he said.
However, BJP leaders said his resignation was neither accepted nor approved.
Even earlier, Raja Singh had sent his resignation letter to party leaders after making controversial statements on various issues, but it wasn’t accepted.
Raja Singh alleged that TRS government was not doing enough to prevent cow slaughtering in Hyderabad. He also alleged that some of
the leaders of ruling TRS were involved in cattle exports.
“Many cows have been transported into Hyderabad ahead of Bakrid. People have left these cows to starve in their houses. The state government has to take action or else we would have to enter the field to protect our mother (cow),” he said.
He alleged that cattle were being transported to Hyderabad from various places and were kept in the Old City at Bahadurpura, Falaknuma and Chandrayangutta.
“Earlier, there were about 78 check posts to keep strict vigil on illegal transportation of cattle. But now, there is not even one. I request the local government and the police to take required measures,” he said.
He urged that the city police convene a coordination meeting with slaughterhouse owners and Gaurakshaks, unlike the recent meet where only the slaughterhouse owners were invited.
