Mangalhat police city served a notice on Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh in connection with a case registered against him for his comments made during Dasara and for displaying firearms and swords while performing Ayudha Puja.
During the Dasara celebrations, Raja Singh had asked dandiya organisers to not allow men from other communities including assisting staff like bouncers, photographers, videographers. A case was registered on October 16 on a complaint from Samad Warsi, a former corporator.
With regard to the
display of firearms and swords, police initiated action based on a complaint from Md Afsar Jahan, an activist.
Responding to the notices Raja Singh said, "speaking up against the exclusion of individuals who do not share our religious beliefs from participating in Dandiya and performing shastr puja which a matter of my cultural belief is a problem to few."
Sharing a video showing Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao performing puja to weapons, Raja Singh questioned if the cops would dare to take action.
