The Rashtrapati Nilayam, tucked away in the high security Cantonment area of Bolarum in Secunderabad, will be thrown open to the general public from January 3 to January 10 daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
Among other things, visitors can have a glimpse of the recently inaugurated Herbal Garden on the premises of the Rashtrapati Nilayam. The Herbal Garden has 116 species of medicinal and aromatic plants.The move is intended to enhance awareness about India’s rich heritage and diversity and also about medicinal values of various plants that grow widely in the surroundings and which are useful as home remedy for many of the
diseases.
Beautifully landscaped gardens, Nakshatra Vatika, seasonal flowering plants and a display of potted plants around the main building are the other highlights.
One can also see ‘Jai Hind Ramp’ with cascading water and fruit gardens of mango, sapota, pomegranate, guava, amla, coconut and cheeku. Rain harvesting measures undertaken to improve ground water sustainability can also be seen.
The officials concerned have requested visitors not to litter on the premises of the Rashtrapati Nilayam. People have been advised not to bring any plastic bottles and eatables at the gardens.
