The Telangana Ration Dealers’ Association on Tuesday called of its strike following an assurance given by Civil Supplies minister Etela Rajender that two of their main demands would be positively considered.
Except for fixing of a monthly honorarium to the dealers, Etela assured us that the government would release Rs.600 crore commission arrears and also enhance the commission of dealers’ per
quintal rice. Though our main demand of seeking monthly honorarium was not conceded to, we decided to call off the strike to stop creating further inconveniences to the 85 lakh card holders,” said ration dealers’ leader Anand.
Meanwhile, the ration dealers have sought four days to pay demand drafts towards subsidy rice and kerosene stocks.
