Redbus has launched ‘rpool app’ that offers car and bike pooling option for Metro commuters.
Commuters can avail and offer rides in their personal cars or bikes while commuting between home and workplace, said HMRL MD NVS Reddy. Users have to download the redbus app and those already using it have to click on the rpool tab on the home screen and register themselves.
They can create a ride with their source, destination, date and time. Ride givers will have to share vehicle details and route plan separately. They can find matching riders, invite them, confirm the ride and travel. The cost of travel
starts from Rs 2 per km for the ride taker, said Prakash Sangam, CEO, redBus. Designated parking spaces at 18 Metro stations are also available for the users.
RedBus is also looking to expand rPool to over 14 cities in India in the next one year. After completing pilots in Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, it is planning to launch the service in Delhi-NCR and Chennai and then expand to other metros like Kolkata, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
“We got excellent response from customers for the service and we intend to cover all major metros in India,” said Prakash Sangam, CEO, redBus.
