Renowned poet and critic Rahman Jami breathed his last in the early hours of Wednesday.He was 85. The funeral prayers were performed after Asr prayed at Choti Masjid, Muradnagar in Mehdipatnam. He was laid to rest at the graveyard attached to Masjid-e-Alamgir in
Shantinagar.
Jami was a prominent writer, poet and critic of Urdu. He authored 12 books of poetry. He was awarded several national and state awards for his contribution to Urdu literature. He also translated 12 poems of balladeer Gaddar.
