Additional commissioner of police  (crimes and SIT) Swati Lakra asked women to stand up to fight incidents of crime against women by reporting them on time with SHE teams and Bharosa.

Speaking at  a function at Lamakaan on Tuesday, she threw light on how the police in Hyderabad has changed over the years  in their approach.

Agreeing that in general the police treats crimes like murder and robbery as more severe than those of atrocities against women, she asserted that in the given situation, SHE teams and Bharosa have

been specially channelised in a way that women
receive help provided they report the crime.

Expressing disappointment over the fact that social stigmas keep a lot of of women away from reporting such incidents, she narrated an incident in which a man who had molested about 300 women by calling them to his workplace during late hours citing professional reasons. The man was on the loose for a long time as most of the women refrained from filing a complaint. Only two to three of them came forward to file a complaint and that is why SHE team took long to nab him.
