To ensure incident-free New Year eve revelries, the police have stepped up bandobust and have initiated steps to monitor parties and traffic movement in the city on Thursday night.
The Cyberabad police, whose jurisdiction includes 25 star hotels, three pubs, 22 resorts and 269 farmhouses, has restricted partying till 1 a.m. on Friday.
“Admission to any revelry should be through invite and maximum number of persons to be allowed shall be declared by the organisers while obtaining permission,” Cyberabad Commissioner C.V. Anand said while warning of action against star hotels and resorts who were found encouraging illegal activities.
In a press release, Cyberabad police said liquor should not be served without a
valid license from the Excise Department and organisers should obtain special permission from the Fire Services Department. Parties should be video recorded and the CD containing footage need be submitted to the CP’s office within two days after the event.
The police are keen to prevent drunk driving as they have warned of no leniency. Teams of traffic police with breath analyzers would be ready to check persons driving vehicles at several thoroughfares, they said.
In Hyderabad, the police will announce restrictions on movement of vehicles around Tank Bund on Thursday night.
Vehicular traffic will not be allowed on Necklace road and Tank Bund and all the flyovers in the city will be closed for traffic.
