Revanth for 1K-acre Industrial Zones on Land Outside ORR

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, in a review of industrial development on Monday, directed officials to identify 500-1,000-acre land parcels between the Outer Ring Road and Regional Ring Road to establish industrial zones.

"The new industrial zones should be located within 50 km to 100 km from the airport, national highways and state highways," Reddy said at the meeting, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and senior officials at the Secretariat.

Reddy emphasised that only barren and uncultivable land parcels are to be acquired for the process, ensuring farmers are not harmed, and to decentralise developmental projects with reduced pollution.

He sought from officials complete details of land allotted for industries and parcels that were not being used for industrial purposes.

Reddy said that the state government is according priority to the decentralisation of industrial growth. "Big chunks of land have been allotted to many companies to set up industries in different parts of the state by previous governments," he said, seeking details on the number of industries set up and their current status.

He said that non-polluting



industries will be given priority, directing officials to also consider alternatives to Nacharam, Jeedimetla and Katedan, among others, for industries in Hyderabad. He also told them to study policies adopted by the Middle East and European countries for setting up bulk drug manufacturing companies.

"All upcoming industries should be established away from the residential areas. This initiative will help acquire lands at lower prices and farmers will also extend support to land acquisition," he said.

The Chief Minister told officials to take steps to ensure that industries use solar power, instead of thermal power, directing officials to envisage appropriate plans to develop villages as model villages in the state. He also enquired about the status of IDPL land in the Balanagar industrial area and sought a comprehensive report on it.

Santhi Kumari, Special Chief Secretary (industries) Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary of municipal administration Dana Kishore, industries department director Krishna Bhaskar, CMO officials V. Seshadri, Shivdhar Reddy and Shahnawaz Qasim, among others, attended the review meeting.
