With his roots in the RSS, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has been neglecting minorities and has remained a silent spectator despite violence against minorities rising in Telangana, BRS MLC K Kavitha said on Sunday, adding that the Gandhi family was failing to rein in him and his unchecked governance.
Speaking to mediapersons in Nizamabad, Kavitha said minorities voted for the Congress due to the Gandhi family and their assurance to implement the Minority Declaration during the Assembly elections.
However, the Congress government betrayed minorities without implementing the promises made by the Gandhi family, she said, pointing out that while there was no communal violence during the BRS regime, multiple incidents of communal violence occurred across the State within the first year of the Congress rule.
“Why did Revanth Reddy fail to take any measures to prevent them?
What happened to the implementation of the Minority Declaration?” she asked, demanding for its immediate implementation.
She pointed out that against Rs 3,000 crore allocated for minorities welfare in the current financial year, only around Rs 700 crore was spent, which is less than 25 per cent of the outlay. She demanded that the government explain why no gold was being given under Shaadi Mubarak as promised during the Assembly elections.
Kavitha also came down heavily on Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi over the attacks by the Congress cadre on the BRS office in Bhongir. She said the Congress’ hypocrisy was exposed, with Rahul Gandhi preaching about the Constitution, while his party cadre practising vandalism.
“We demand an answer from Rahul Gandhi. Is this your standard? Is Congress advocating that violence is the only answer to win politically?” she questioned.
