Telangana Democratic Forum (TDF), a conglomeration of different organisations working for the cause of weaker sections, minorities and tribals, has announced the organising of a ‘Maha Dharna’ on May 8 at Indira Park to press for their demands.
Action against those on whom cases were filed under the SC/ST Atrocities Act in the University of Hyderabad (UoH) scholar Rohith Vemula suicide case, resignation of Vice-Chancellor P. Appa Rao and bringing the Rohith Act are among their demands. The TDF also wanted the Government

to declare all mandals as drought-hit to provide relief to people.
At a press conference with UoH professor G. Haragopal, Osmania University’s P.L. Viveswara Rao, Kathyayani and others here on Monday, he said, those supposed to protect the Constitutional Rights are themselves violating it like Union Ministers and the MLC did in the Rohith case. How can anyone come forward to give evidence against the VC when he continues to be in office? What happened to the CM’s promise to recalling the VC,” he asked.
