Olympic bronze medal winner PV Sindhu has been given a rousing reception on her return to Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International airport on Wednesday. State Sports Minister Srinivas Goud, Cyberabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar, Shamshabad DCP Prakash Reddy are among who welcomed PV Sindhu at the airport. Sindhu and her coach Park Tae-sang have been welcomed by scores of sports lovers on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, PV Sindhu thanked the Telangana State government for the encouragement that she received. The State Sports Minister said Sindhu has become a synonym for badminton and a role model for millions of youngsters to enter the field of
sports. Stating that the ace player made Telugu people feel proud of her and assured all support for her future endeavours.
The 26-year-old, who won silver medal at the Rio Olympics five years ago, has defeated China’s He Bing Jiao, winning the bronze medal in the ongoing Olympics. She is the second Indian and first women athlete in the country to win two Olympic medals.
Following her victory, the Andhra Pradesh government announced a 30 lakh rupees cash reward on her achievement. While leaving for Tokyo, the Telangana government gave her 5 lakh rupees as an incentive.
