The Regional Passport
Office (RPO), Hyderabad, is now the second largest following issuance of 6.6
lakh passports after Lucknow with 6.9 lakh.
According to Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay, Secretary (Consular
Passport Visa & Overseas Indian Affairs), Union Ministry of External
Affairs, said that more number of
people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were
going to the Gulf.“The number of people going to Gulf from UP and Bihar has
increased, compared to South India. That’s the reason more number of passports
were issued from there,” he said.
Earlier, during the press conference at RPO Hyderabad, Mulay said that every year 1.3 crore new passports were being issued by the Ministry at an average rate of 50,000 passports per day across the country.
