Police and election officials seized Rs 3,21,59,725 cash in a 24-hour period ending at 9 am on Monday, taking the total to Rs 177.32 crore from the time the elections were announced on October 9. In all, officials have seized cash, valuables, drugs and liquor worth Rs 519 crore.
Alcoholic drinks and materials worth Rs 3.52 crore were seized on Monday, including 2501.23 litres of liquor, 280 kg alum, 1,570 kg black jaggery. The overall value stood at Rs 66.45 crore. Also
seized on Monday were drugs worth Rs 1,76-crore, including 109.5 kg ganja and 74.58 kg of other narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Their overall value from October 9 stood at Rs 30.7 crore, including 7.9 tonnes of ganja.
Gold worth Rs 20.91 lakh was seized on Monday, and the total value was Rs178 crore which included 292.125 kgs of gold. The cumulative value of freebies seized from October 9 stood at Rs 66.1 crore.
