The State government on Thursday has sanctioned Rs. 116.25 crore to the health department through its State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for procurement of vital medical equipment and other consumables needed to quarantine and treat COVID-19 positive patients in the State.

Out of the Rs.116.25 crore, the authorities have allotted Rs. 83.25 crore for quarantine measures, sample collection and screening. The funds will enable authorities to make provisions for temporary accommodation, food, clothing, medical care etc for people affected and sheltered in quarantine camps or for cluster containment operations. The funds will also be used to meet the cost of



consumables for sample collections and required support for checking, screening and contact tracing.

The remaining amount of Rs. 33 crore has been allotted for procurement of essential equipment, setting up additional testing laboratories within government facilities and the cost of consumables.

Through these funds, the health officials will also procure personal protection equipment for healthcare workers, municipal, police and fire authorities. The sanctioned funds also include cost of thermal scanners, ventilators, air-purifiers and consumables needed for government hospitals.
