Union Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar on Friday said as many as 2.39 lakh hospital admissions worth Rs 517.7 crore were authorised for treatment, including for Covid-19 patients in Telangana under Ayushman Bharat -Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) as on January 24, 2022.
This was stated by the Minister while responding to a question posed by Congress MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy in Lok Sabha. According to the Minister, AB-PMJAY was implemented in Telangana since May 18, 2021. A total of 87.6 lakh beneficiary families were eligible for the healthcare benefits under the scheme in Telangana.
To another question from TRS MP Nama Nageswara Rao on Omicron variant, the Minister said there were 7,61,050 Covid cases (cumulative) including foreigners as of January 31, 2022 in Telangana. To one more question from Rao, the Minister said that as per the National Health
Accounts (NHA) Estimates for 2017-18, the government expenditure allocated to health was more than one per cent of GDP.
Under National Health Mission (NHM), technical and financial support was provided to States and union Territories (UTs) to strengthen the public healthcare delivery at public healthcare facilities. The NHM support is provided to States/UTs for setting up new facilities as per norms and up-gradation of existing facilities for bridging infrastructure gaps, including in rural areas, based on the requirement posed by them.
When TRS MP Manne Srinivas Reddy asked about AYUSH hospitals, the union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonow said the construction of 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals at Anantgiri in Vikarabad, Bhupalpalli in Jayashankar Bhupalpalli district and Siddipet headquarters were under progress.
