RTA to provide online services from June

Fri 13 May 2016, 11:22:29
All the services in RTA offices would be made available online to the citizens from June. Citizens can make their applications for driving licences, permits, change of addresses and others services online.
According to officials, few services are now available online over the years like booking slots for learner’s license and driving tests. Now the department is attempting 100 per cent online services making the applicant to visit the office as less as possible.
During September 2015, the authorities made 24 services available online and now from June, 100 per cent of the services would go online.
Earlier, the applicants used to visit the RTA office after booking the slot and then go through the process of filling up the application forms. The official said once the applicant fills up his details online, SMS would be sent his/her to cell phone number, giving a unique

number.
The applicant has to show the unique number SMS to the staff at the RTA office counter. The officer would retrieve the details and forward the application for further action. Here, the applicant should submit original copy of his certificates such as date of birth, residential address proof etc., along with a copy of the original, the official added.
If a person applied for a new registration certificate (RC), after the verification, the applicant’s photograph and digital signature would be taken and the work was done.
Joint Transport Commissioner B Venkateshwarlu said the applicant would have to come to the office only for providing digital signature, thumb impression and digital photograph.
This would pave way for avoiding the long queues at digital signature counters. The number of digital signature counters would be increased for making the process quick, he added.
