Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is now planning to mechanise the steering with a device to lock it after completing the day trips.
According to Telangana State Road Transport Corporation officials, plans are being discussed to install alternative locking systems for the night out buses to strengthen the security features of the bus.
There is also a plan to lock the steering with the chain after it is parked in the respective bus depot or bus station.
Two days back a city metro express bus (AP 11Z 6254) belonging to Kushaiguda bus depot was stolen from the CBS and was later traced in Nanded outskirts in
Maharashtra.
However, by the time officials traced the bus, the vehicle was found dismantled.
Since all buses could be started with a starter switch, officials are working on alternative security measures to avoid such incidents.
To keep a watch on buses, private personal are being deployed at MGBS, JBS, CBS and other major bus bays in the city.
“We have discussed with police commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda to intensify patrolling at bus stations during night time and they have responded positively,” said TRSTC’s Executive Director (Greater Hyderabad Zone), Vinod Kumar.
