Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU), a recognized union of the state Road Transport Corporation (RTC) will go on strike in the Hyderabad city from June 11, after failing to receive any response from chief minister K Chandrasekhar regarding the constitution of a Pay Revision Committee.
Eight unions of the RTC Joint Action Committee are also expected to strike, which will hit public transport services across the state.
According to members of the union, all staff, excluding officers and security personnel are expected to join the indefinite strike from Monday to demand constitution of
PRC.
“The constitution of PRC of RTC employees was due as of April 1, 2017. Over 52,000 employees and their families have not received any positive response from the CM,” said V Tirupati, president of TMU.
The CM, while recalling the 44 per cent salary fitment given to Telangana RTC employees in 2015, has earlier termed RTC employees’ demand as unjustified, after discussions were held with officials and sub-committee members. The CM had also pointed out how hiking the wages will now set the exchequer back by Rs.1,400 crore when RTC is running with huge losses.
