Rythu Bharosa: Govt to use remote sensing data to identify crop areas

In response to concerns raised by mandal-level staff in the Agriculture Department, the State government is set to utilise remote sensing data for accurate estimation of crop areas and documentation of farmland under the Rythu Bharosa.

This new approach aims to ensure that only actively cultivated land is qualified for crop investment assistance, pending Cabinet ratification of new guidelines in consideration.

During a meeting at the Secretariat, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao emphasised the scheme’s primary objective stating that



it was intended to provide support exclusively to actively cultivated land. He underscored the importance of timely farmland registration by farmers and the need for transparency in the scheme’s implementation.

Representatives from various companies presented their projects, detailing the areas where crops have been cultivated and the current status of different crops. They showcased digital maps to demonstrate the suitability of various regions for cultivation and explained the AI models developed to identify even the potential crop damage caused by pests and calamities.
