Congress MLA from Maheshwaram and senior party leader Sabitha Indra Reddy is expected to formally join Telangana Rashtra Samiti soon. On Wednesday afternoon, she called on Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao at Pragati Bhavan here.
It is expected that she will join the TRS in Chandrashekhar Rao’s presence at a public meeting in Chevella sometime soon.
Her meeting with the TRS president along with her son Karthik Reddy comes in the wake of days of intense speculation that she had made up her mind to quit the Congress and join the TRS. She had met TRS
working president KT Rama Rao and the Nizamabad MP K Kavitha on Sunday.
Meanwhile, according to some senior party leaders in Congress, Sabitha’s decision to leave the party was a direct result of the ham-handed approach to the issue by the State Congress leadership. They said that during the attempts a couple of days ago by TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and other senior Congress leaders to dissuade her from joining the TRS, the Congress leadership failed to give her an assurance on the prospects within the party for her son, Karthik Reddy.
