Education minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy on Wednesday urged students who did not clear their Intermediate or SSC exams not to be disheartened with their results, and appealed to them not to take any extreme steps.

Speaking after releasing the SSC exam results, she said: "I request teachers, and parents too, to treat students the same, regardless of their results. One can always opt for supplementary exams in June and join their friends in college just a few days later. Those of you who did not pass, do not be worried or

anxious."

The education minister said, "News of a few students dying by suicide broke our hearts. Please don't take any extreme step in haste, you will lose out on a bright future and a beautiful life."

She said that teachers, while they "celebrate students who passed," should "with equal responsibility, encourage and counsel students who did not."

"Please be there for them, guide them and train them to do better in the supplementary exams," she said, in a message to teachers.
