A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra and comprising Justice Chandrachud and Justice Khanwilkar, here on Friday disposed a petition seeking a ban on the controversial book of Kancha Ilaiah.
The book which is based on the trading community. The panel observed that it could not interfere with the freedom of speech and thought of any individual in the
country.
Seeking to know why anyone should take a serious note of some writing, myth or a view point, the panel said it could not interfere because of Article 32 of the Constitution. It was upto the government to judge the writings and make a decision, the bench told the petitioner Veeranjaneyulu, who said the sentiments of his community were hurt by the writings.
