South Central Railway (SCR) achieved a freight loading of 80 million tonnes during the current fiscal till January 2017, said General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav.
SCR is according top priority for safety of its passengers and freight mobility. In order to ensure high quality passenger amenities, 68 stations were declared as Adarsh stations, Yadav said during the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting on Tuesday.
Already, 61 stations were developed as Adarsh stations
and works are under way at seven more. A portion of the MMTS Phase II project will be commissioned by December 2017 and all the works related to it will be completed by December 2018, Yadav said.
In the consultative meeting, officials said Secunderabad and Vijayawada railway stations were selected under the station redevelopment programme to make these world-class.As part of developing infrastructure, 36 elevators and 34 escalators were provided at several important stations.
