South Central Railway (SCR) has urged the passengers and general public to stay away from railway tracks and not trespass either at railway stations or in mid-section. In an advisory issued here on Tuesday, the SCR suggested using foot over bridges, subways, road over/ under bridges and rail crossings to cross railway tracks.
Any person found trespassing the railway track will be liable for prosecution
under section 147 of the Railways Act, 1989 which entails punishment with imprisonment for a term up to six months or with a fine of Rs.1000 or both, it cautioned. SCR also asked rail users and public not to use mobile phones while walking near railway tracks or while boarding/alighting the trains and not to gather or indulge in any activity or in the vicinity of railway tracks.
