The South Central Railways (SCR) General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav disclosed that the railways would conduct a re-survey and submit a report on the Telangana Government’s request for a realignment of the Nalgonda – Macherla railway line. Though the line was already sanctioned, the re-survey would be taken up following government’s request and sent to the Railway Board, he told newsmen here on Thursday.
Mr Yadav also disclosed that the works of Mattampally-Janphad Railway line would be completed by March, 2017 and new trains would also be introduced on the route.Speaking to newsmen after inspecting Nalgonda railway station here, he said survey was completed and report was sent to the Railway Board on doubling of Pagidipally-Nallaphad railway line. Moreover, tenders have been finalized for electrification of
this railway line. The works would be completed by the year 2019-20.He said the works on all sanctioned new railway lines would be expedited.
Mr Yadav inspected the the facilities being provided to the passengers, including the tickets counter, reservations counter and platforms, staff quarters and inquired about the amenities provide to them.
The SCR General Manager stated that providing amenities to the passengers was a top priority of the railways in addition to their safety. Similarly, welfare of its employees of the Indian railways was also one of the important subjects in the agenda of the Indian Railways, he added. He has also assured to examine the representations of the local leaders seeking setting up of additional platforms and stoppage of all trains at Nalgonda.
