One of the major contributors for this growth has been the timetabled parcel trains, the SCR said in a press release. These trains have helped in transportation of several essential commodities like fruits, onions, eggs, fish, and mangoes to different destinations across the country.
Between April 1 and September 27, the zone ran 343 kisan rails transporting onions, mangoes and other agricultural commodities generating revenue of Rs 49.43 crores. Further, SCR operated Doodh Duronto specials to the National Capital carrying 3.78 crore liters of milk which generated a
revenue of Rs 17.85 crores. Importantly the zone has achieved 100 per cent bar coding for tracking of parcel packages.
The consistent efforts of the staff has yielded results and helped in capturing new traffic avenues. Baby diapers were transported from Renigunta to various destinations generating revenue of Rs 52 lakhs and MRF tyres were transported from Sadashivpet to North Western Railway generating revenue of Rs 11 Lakhs.
SCR General Manager, Gajanan Mallya, complimented the efforts put in by the zonal and divisional teams of operating and commercial branches in achieving the best ever parcel revenue in the history of the zone. He instructed the teams to have a proactive approach in addressing the concerns of customers and to make efforts in attracting new traffic, duly strengthening the existing traffic.
