To meet the additional travel demand during Sankranti festival, the South Central Railway (SCR) will run a record 366 special trains between various destinations. Most of these trains will be operated during peak holiday season and apart from the two Telugu States will be towards other popular destinations.
The SCR officials said these train services have varied coach composition including reserved coaches and unreserved coaches catering to all segments of passengers. Additional coaches have been attached to 15 trains. Already, the number of coaches of the Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express has been enhanced.
The popular destinations to which the special trains are operated include Narsapur, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Machilipatnam, Tirupati, Berhampur, Jaipur, Gorakhpur, Cuttack, Madurai and Arsikere.
In addition, some more special trains will pass through Nellore, Vijayawada,
Rajahmundry, Warangal and other stations towards Shalimar, Sambalpur, Barauni and Visakhapatnam.
“From Charlapalli railway terminal, 61 special trains are being operated towards Narsapur, Kakinada and Srikakulam, which includes 18 Jansadharan trains operated exclusively with general coaches from Charlapalli to Visakhapatnam and back,” officials said.
SCR measures for Sankranti season:
*Five additional counters at major stations.
*Automatic Ticket Vending Machines at major stations.
*Round-the-clock monitoring cells at Divisional Commercial Control
*Officers deputed at major stations for effective rush handling.
*Frequent announcements regarding special trains in addition to other display boards at stations.
*Enquiry-cum-facilitation counters at major stations to guide passengers.
