South Central Railway (SCR) asked passengers not to carry fire crackers or inflammable substances in trains, and said violators could be jailed for up to three years or fined Rs 1,000 or both.
Carrying such items in trains or at stations poses a grave risk to safety. SCR said in a statement. Carrying inflammable and explosive
articles in train is punishable under Sections 164 & 165 of the Railway Act, 1989, it said.
SCR said that passengers, in case they notice fire crackers or any suspicious material in trains or at stations, must inform the railway staff or call the security helpline 139.
