The panel led by the Students Federation of India (SFI) has swept the elections to the students union in the prestigious University of Hyderabad (UoH). The polls assume significance in the wake of the suicide of Rohit Vemula that triggered nationwide protests.
The SFI has retained the president, joint secretary and sports secretary posts. The Dalit - Left- Bahujan combine that emerged from the Rohit Vemula struggle has defeated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) candidates by a massive

margin.
The Tribal Students Forum (TSF) won the vice-president post while the Dalit Students Union (DSU) won the general secretary post. The cultural secretary post was won by Bahujan Students Front (BSF).
The elected office bearers are Kuldeep Singh Nagi (president), Bhukya Sundar (vice president), D Suman (general secretary), Ushanish Das (sport secretary), P Vijay Kumar (joint secretary), Nakhrai Debbarma (cultural secretary). The winning combination stood victorious in 36 out of 53 council posts too.
