SHE Teams celebrates third anniversary

Since the formation of SHE Teams, a total of 1,374 suspects were detained on charges of eve-teasing, said Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat here on Wednesday.

He was interacting with college students during the third anniversary celebrations of the Rachakonda wing of the SHE Teams organised at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Nacharam.

In the last three years, he said, as many as 1,217 cases were booked, including minors 145 and majors 229.“The suspects were let off only



after undergoing counselling,” he said, adding that the concept of ‘SHE for HER’ introduced by the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate also had completed its second anniversary on Wednesday.

“Based on the information provided by volunteers associated with SHE for HER, as many as 13 cases of women harassment were booked. 

Presently, the team consists of 321 college students,” he said, adding that an orientation programme was conducted for newly joined 170 volunteers.
