The She Teams in the city on Thursday in collaboration with Swift Elearning Services launched a free e-learning module for citizens to raise public awareness regarding women's safety .
On the occasion of third anniversary of the launch of She Teams in the city , the e-learning course was launched by home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy along with city police commissioner Mahender Reddy, additional CP (Crimes) Swathi Lakra and additional commissioner of police Avinash Mohanty . Tollywood actress Lavanya Tripathi, was also part of the event.
The event was attended by nearly 1,200 students from various colleges. Nearly 80 people enrolled themselves for the course on Thursday . “We have received an extremely good response from people. We are expecting to cross enrollment figures of 500 in the next two weeks,“ said M A Sayeed, technology director of Swift Elear ning
Services.
According to the Swift Elearning Services, which developed the course, the module will not only provide an overview about types of harassment, but also explain to candidates situations that can arise by detailing scenarios.“We got help from Swathi Lakra and other She Teams members while developing the course. We realised that several accused, who were nabbed for eve-teasing, were unaware that their activities amount to harassment,“ said Sayeed.
Swathi Lakra said that the team has come long way . “We have conducted several campaigns and awareness programmes in colleges. The course gives an idea about how an act of harassment and eve-teasing has a big impact on women's life,“ she said.
At the end of the course, there will be an assessment of 10 random questions and upon successfully answering at least eight, an awareness appreciation certificate will be issued to the candidate.
