Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the `5,000 crore sheep distribution scheme at Kondapaka in Gajwel Assembly constituency of Siddipet district on Tuesday .
Animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that though the number of societies registered exceeded their expectations, KCR was committed to giving one unit of sheep, comprising 20 females and a male, to all the 4,97,992 members enrolled with 7,925 societies.
Over 42 lakh sheep will be distributed among Yadava and Kuruma communities in the first phase this year. The remaining would be covered in the second phase next
year.
The minister said that 115 teams comprising veterinary assistant surgeons and officials from respective district collectorates have started to procure sheep from neighbouring states. Animals have started arriving in various districts of Telangana.
Over 100 mobile veterinary clinics would be pressed into service in 100 rural Assembly constituencies to extend medical facilities to the sheep and other livestock in the next one week. “ All the sheep procured are insured and have been tagged. The state government is bearing even the transportation cost. The sheep will be distributed to the beneficiaries at 75% subsidy .
