The cultural mela is a unique effort towards showcasing the arts and crafts of each state in India, told by the organisers. Artists and craftsmen from Telangana itself will be allotted an entire street to showcase their work.
More than 500 artisans from across the country are expected to convene in Hyderabad soon to participate in the jamboree all India Crafts Mela that will be kicked off at Shilparamam, from December 16 to 31.
Stalls will also be allotted to specific crafts, said organisers, who have decided to set up 150 handloom stalls, 45 national jute board stalls, 100 handicraft stalls, 27 jewellery stalls, 18 stalls woodcarving, 22 for hand block
textile printing, 62 for hand embroidery, 6 for blue pottery and 18 for national awardees who will be showcase their work, at the venue. In addition to this, separate stalls have also been given for shawls (35), carpets (5), terracotta (5) and stone cutting (2).
“More than 500 stalls have been planned to be installed at Shilparamam for the cultural fest. In addition an exhibition of arts and crafts, cultural programmes and folk performances representing each state will also be held at the venue every evening. Food stalls, where visitors can sample authentic Telangana-style cuisine will also be set up,” said G Kishan Rao, special officer, Shilparamam.
