Sididpet town will be the first newly formed district headquarters in Telangana State to have a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy will inaugurate the POPSK on February 28 at the Post Office in Siddipet town. It will be the fourth Passport Seva Kendra in Telangana after Hyderabad, Karimnagar and Warangal. The POPSKs are jointly set up by Union Ministries of External Affairs and Telecommunication.
There were only two PSKs in Telangana before the formation of the State. Following the request of Telangana
government, the Union government agreed to set up the POPSKs in Warangal, Mahabubnagar, Siddipet and other places in Telangana. The Warangal facility was opened last year and the POPSK in Mahabubnagar will be opened shortly.
The online applications for passport will be accepted at POPSK, Siddipet, from February 28 onwards. The applicants need to pay Rs 1,500 for each passport application while senior citizens need to pay Rs 1,350. Earlier, residents of Siddipet and neighbouring places had to travel to Karimnagar, Warangal, or Hyderabad for passport application or for renewal.
