The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) initiative to set up Smart washrooms with no user charges, in different parts of the city has received a positive response.
To the civic body proposal for these hygienic toilet facilities, a private operator has come forward to set up units at 66 different locations under public private participation (PPP) mode.
As a step towards promoting access to safe sanitation and hygienic toilet facilities, the GHMC had provided Smart Integrated Toilets in
Serilingampally and Kukatpally after piloting a unit near Shilparamam.
According to a press release, similar units have been proposed at 178 locations and a private operator had already evinced interest in 66 locations.
These Smart toilets come as prefabricated AC units and equipped with separate washrooms for men, women and specially challenged persons, CCTV security, sanitary napkin vending machine and incineration, café, water ATM and e-commerce ATM, the release added.
