Warangal: Passengers waiting at Jangaon railway station turned tense when they noticed smoke emanating from a goods train carrying coal that halted at the station on Sunday. Railway Protection Force (RPF) inspector Naresh said as soon as they learnt that the smoke had been rising from a wagon of the goods train going towards Secunderabad from Ramagundam, they alerted the higher authorities.
Authorities at the station then stopped the electricity supply to the power
lines, so that they could put off the fire that had erupted in the goods wagon. Soon after they put out the fire, the goods train headed towards Secunderabad. However, as power supply to railway power lines had been disrupted at Jangaon, several trains running through the railway station got disrupted, causing inconvenience to the railway passengers. It is stated coal being carried in railway wagon occasionally catches fire due to friction.
