Veena Sajja was moved by the plight of girl students due to lack of adequate toilet facilities at their school. And she decided to do something to help the students.

This woman software professional from Chandanagar took up the task and went on to raise Rs.3 lakh by way of contributions from her friends and relatives to construct rest rooms for not just girl students but also for the boys and staff of the primary school at Shantinagar in

Serilingampally.

It took her six months to give shape to the initiative, but Veena didn’t give up. The rest rooms were formally inaugurated this week providing a sense of relief to the students and staff at the school.

Veena said she came to know the plight of girl students and staff due to lack of adequate toilets through neighbours and parents of the students. “I sincerely thank all those who extended their support in creating the facility for the students,” she says.
