SOT seized RS 60 lakh in Chaitanyapuri

The intensified frisking operations of vehicles moving around districts, ahead of the Legislative Assembly elections, saw the special operation team (SOT) of Rachakonda seize Rs 60 lakh from a car in Chaitanyapuri on Wednesday. The cash and the car were handed over to Chaitaniyapuri police.

Gandhinagar police seized one kg gold from a businessman's car near Bible House. The vehicle owner from Adilabad was unable to produce relevant receipts. Suryapet police intercepted a car that was heading towards Raigal village and seized Rs 45 lakh cash while in another incident Rs 3.5 lakh was seized from a car by Kukatpally police.

Meanwhile from the time the MCC came into force, around 23.80 lakh has been seized in Vikarabad.

Rajendranagar police seized 50 tola gold worth Rs 30 lakh and handed it over to the I-T department.

Police have been



conducting frisking operations in Secunderabad, Shankarpally, Ibrahimpatnam, Abids, Mehdipatnam, Dilsukhnagar, Begumpet, Ameerpet, Kukatpally, Gachibowli and other areas.

City police officials said that since Monday their interceptions saw them land with gold valued at 42 crore, silver worth Rs 8.77 lakh, liquid cash to the tune of  Rs 5.1 crore, 110 liquor litres, two kg of ganja, 23 mobile phones and 43 quintals of PDS rice.

Local police, flying squad teams, commissioner’s task force and other wings are slogging it out 24/7 and maintaining a tight vigil to trap all those trying to transport cash or material during electioneering.

Domalguda police during frisking Himayatnagar Y Junction caught a biker and seized Rs 1,75,000- from his possession .he failed to provide bills, hence the cash was seized.
