The South-Central Railway (SCR) has set up mechanised laundries at seven locations, including the Secunderabad departmental laundry with 2 tons a tons-a-day capacity, and the Kacheguda BOOT laundry with 12 tons a day capacity, to provide clean linen for passengers, supplementing outsourced services.

An official release stated that currently, all AC coaches in 116 trains, including special trains, are supplied with clean bedrolls daily. This

includes an average of 38,000 woolen blankets and 1.52 lakh bedrolls. The SCR stated that white bed sheets are washed after single use, while woolen blankets are washed monthly.

The increased frequency has reduced blanket lifespan from four years to two. SCR also announced a new 48-ton BOOT laundry under the built-own-operate-transfer scheme for Secunderabad, Kacheguda, and Hyderabad stations.
