The southwest monsoon has advanced into several parts of Telangana on Thursday. The arrival of the monsoon has already triggered a drop in temperatures in Hyderabad by at least six degrees. The day temperature is likely to stay around 30 degrees Celsius for the next week. On Thursday, it was recorded at 31 degrees Celsius.
According to the forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad, the city will witness cloudy skies throughout the day, accompanied by moderate rain. Weather officials have also issued a thunderstorm warning for several districts of Telangana, according to
which thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, gusty winds between 30 kmph and 40 kmph and hailstorm would occur in districts including Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sircilla, Mulugu, Warangal (Rural), Warangal (Urban) and Jangaon.
Hyderabad might also witness thunderstorms towards June 15 and 16, the forecast suggests. Dr K Nagaratna, Director, IMD-Hyderabad had earlier said that the northeastern and northern parts of Telangana were likely to receive excess rainfall this year. The other parts will witness below to normal rainfall this year.
