IT and Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao directed Metro Rail officials to increase the speed of metro rails and also their frequency in the city. He held a high level review meeting at Metro Rail Bhavan at Begumpet along with Metro chief NVS Reddy and other officials.
The minister asked the officials to see that more facilities are provided to the commuters while taking tickets at the metro stations. He directed to conduct a feasibility study to run 100 electric buses through Setwin to cater to the citizens from the metro stations which should be developed further. A plan is on cards to construct 12
multi-level parking facilities through tenders soon, he said and asked to speed up the second phase of Metro Rail works.
He also discussed on proposal of express metro at airport. International standards are being maintained at metro stations and the services are better than Bengaluru metro, the officials informed. Uppal Stadium authorities evincing interest to set up a sky-way from their premises to Metro Station in Nagole, he said. The minister asked for speeding up second phase works and to set up she toilets for women at metro stations and corridors.
