SpiceJet on Tuesday said it has become the first Indian low-cost carrier to connect Hyderabad with Colombo through direct flights. The international flight, which will commence from April 15, 2019, will see the airline operate Hyderabad-Colombo-Hyderabad flights on all days of the week except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Flight number SG-9 will depart from Hyderabad at 11.40am and land in Colombo at 13.30pm, while flight number SG-10 will take off from Colombo at 14.35pm and reach Hyderabad at
16.45pm.
With the launch of its services between Hyderabad and Colombo, SpiceJet will connect the Sri Lankan capital with three direct flights from India. The airline will be deploying its fleet of Boeing 737-800 on the Hyderabad-Colombo route.
Commenting on the route’s launch, Shilpa Bhatia, chief sales and revenue officer, SpiceJet, said: “We see tremendous potential in this sector for both leisure and business travellers.”
