Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today said his government was firm in implementing 12 per cent reservation to Muslim Minorities in the State.

Replying to the members’ queries in the House on Appropriation Bill on Tuesday,  the Chief Minister said the Union government has to accord permission for this facility on the lines of Tamil Nadu State. Stating that Wakf lands will be protected, the Chief Minister said a special session will be conducted to pass a resolution to offer 12 per cent reservations to Muslim Minorities. After passing the

resolution, the government will lead a team to the Centre to take necessary Constitutional steps, the Chief Minister explained.

The Chief Minister also informed the House that he would appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take necessary steps to provide 12% reservations to Muslims and initiate measures to recover the unused and encroached Wakf lands in the State and some lands were falling under jurisdiction of Maharashtra State. The statement was made in response to MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi’s appeal. “We are for the welfare of Muslims”, he said, adding that he would allocate more funds for minority education, health and other facilities.
