Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed irrigation officials to complete all canals and lining works under the Sriramsagar project (SRSP) before the monsoon.

He said once the works of the project are over, Kaleshwaram water will be released to Mid Manair and Lower Manair dams from Medigadda, which have the capacity of 50 tmcft.

The chief minister held a review meeting with irrigation officials and lawmakers on Thursday. Some of the MLAs on Wednesday held a meeting in Karimnagar on SRSP works and submitted a report to KCR.

“Once the water is released from Medigadda, all the tanks, especially those in Karimnagar and

Warnagal district, should be filled through SRSP canals,” the chief minister said. He also said if there was any necessity, the carrying capacity of the canals should be increased and there was no dearth of funds for the projects.

KCR served deadlines for other projects as well. “Chanaka-Korata should be completed by May 15. On the other hand, Ramappa, Laknavaram, Ghanpur and Pakala canal works need to be completed by this summer,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state government issued preliminary notification of forming two revenue divisions Kollapur in Nagarkurnool district and Korutla in Jagtyal.
