The Srisailam project authorities started regulating the spillway discharges with the flood flow in Krishna river showing a receding trend. Chief Engineer of the Srisailam project B Narayan Reddy said that the inflows into the project had started coming down.
“We are closely watching the outflows from the upstream projects and the engineers concerned have been tasked with the responsibility of regulating the flood flow,” he said.
He added that the crest gates were being lowered in a bid to operate
them at 10 feet level. All the 12 crest gates of the project are still open.
As per the flood bulletin issued by the Irrigation Department at 6 pm on Sunday, the inflow into the Srisailam is in the range of 5.98 lakh cusecs as against an outflow of 4.73 lakh cusecs. The inflow into Nagarjunasagar project is 4.24 lakh cusecs and the same volume was being let out as outflow.
At Jurala, while the inflow is 3.50 lakh cusecs, outflow of 3.32 lakh cusecs was maintained.
