Governor ESL Narasimhan on Friday directed all the universities in the State to start the academic year from July every year.He asked them to follow the academic calendar strictly and said universities, Telangana State Council of Higher Education and central agencies should work in coordination.
Speaking at the first Vice-Chancellors conference here, Narasimhan expressed happiness over the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) ranking for the three State universities. However, he said campus recruitment should be given top priority and commercialisation of higher education was not acceptable.
The Governor said the
government has zero tolerance for corruption and audit of funds released to all universities should be done on a periodic basis.
Education Minister Kadiam Srihari informed the Governor that ICTs would be used in academic matters and services of varsities will be made online cutting down human interface so as corruption.
During the meeting, 10 issues, including academic regulations, installation of biometrics and CCTVs, developmental activities, faculty recruitment, PhD and research, use of ICTs and IT, placements, new courses and intake, andfaculty development programme, were discussed.
