The State Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday approved a slew of measures and initiatives covering a wide range of subjects.
The Cabinet decided to take up a census of BC population in the State immediately beside setting up one residential school in each of the 119 Assembly constituencies in the State. The marathon meeting, which lasted more than six hours, also decided to take up the appointment of 4,284 staff in various categories in these residential schools.
The Cabinet also gave approval for the appointment of special officers in place of sarpanches whose term will come to an end on August 1. Special officers will also be appointed for the newly created municipalities in the State.
The recruitment and appointment of 9,335 village panchayat secretaries were also given the nod. There are 12,751 village panchayats in the State and each of them will have an exclusive panchayat secretary. The launch of ‘Kanti Velugu’, a programme aimed at conducting eye tests for the entire population of the State, will be launched on August 15 across the State.
In another major decision, the Cabinet decided to allot land not exceeding more than one acre at the rate of Rs 100 per yard to
all recognised parties to set up their party offices. These party offices will be exempted from property tax.
In accordance with the guidelines of successive governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh, the Cabinet cleared the proposal for land allotment to TRS party in 29 districts for construction of party offices in district headquarters. As part of Gattu lift irrigation scheme, the construction of a reservoir with 4 tmcft capacity was also cleared.
In line with the decision to have one fire station for every Assembly segment, 18 new fire stations are to be established. Besides, the Cabinet also gave the nod for purchase of 11,577 new vehicles by the State Police department. The Cabinet also decided to allot 600 square yards in Shaikpet village in Hyderabad district to the family of former Minister Late A Madhava Reddy who was killed in a landmine blast.
Similarly, the Cabinet also approved the allotment of 200 square yards in Shaikpet village to the family of armyman Feroz Khan who was killed in Indo-Pakistan border. It also approved the establishment of a Medical college and staff in Suryapet and decided to study and examine the possibilities of providing mid-day meals to Junior College students.
